has anyone replaced their oem stereo with a 2 din unit, do you have to replace the above colour display with baisic clock, if so do you lose all the features of it for eg changing the characteristics of the keyless entry?

You do not have to...but it will display an annoying error with the can bus on some screens.

keep the display...with the clock you can't change the car's options.

The clock necessitates the top plastic cowl to be replaced as well, it sits lower.

Question in regards to the 2 din fascia: do the galant ones fit? I'm guessing they would and be a lot cheaper but would rather make sure first..

The 2 din galant fascia is probably the same....but they are not expensive since they were on the base model 380.

Ahh true! Yeah I found galant ones for $37 delivered but they are black so won't really intergrate with the 380 very well.. might just visit a dealership then
