Have this knock in the engine , happened when the catalytic converters fell apart in the manifolds and blocked the exhaust whilst i was driving, ended up driving in the gutter doing 20 ks with this huge loud hissing noise like a continuous blow off valve and the engine started to heat up but didn't boil, was only about 3 ks from home, does this sound familiar to anyone

edit admin: fixed up spelling in thread title for ya'

The sound is identical to what my GT sounded like when it spun a bearing under warranty.

It will be the main bearing bolts in either cyl3 or cyl5 have stretched.

Mine was caused by very hard cornering and a conseqent interruption to oil flow.

The oil light flickered very quickly and it was all over...the next few days it just got louder and louder.

They took 3 weeks to fix it under warranty cause they fit a short motor for warranty now.

Or...it was detonation due to the lousy 7th injector setup from Sprintex.
The result will be the same...spun bearing in 3 or 5 cylinder.

Long term solution is get ARP bolt kit, and plug up 7th injector , ditch SMT6 ecu and fit a LInk G4 extreme like my VRX has.
With 6 660cc injectors of course

About $2k after motor is replaced, car will pull a good 20kw atw more as well.

Is that the reason for using the 74 sump ,to combat that problem, yeah took the car in today when i picked it up they said what i thought theyd say,( didnt find anything ,just a loose exhaust bracket) WHAT THE!! So the engine is good hey? , yep they said ,OK!! so off i go ,start her up , nock nock HELLO!! Went back in an basically had to hold their hand and show them how to check for a knock ,yeah and so they agreed it had bottomend issues so new bottom end for me ,yay!! third time lucky

Nah no secrets...just if you were keeping it I would improve the 7th injector fuelling system.

(I noticed you are selling it)
