As some of you know I have had two mysterious 6G75 engine failures in the last few years.
Including a warranty engine from mitsubishi.

Both had identical faults..centre main bearings...NOT con rod bearings.

Well after months of investigations, measurements and research my engine builder ROB, from Engineworx in Victoria Australia found the problem.

It turns out that the centre main bearing bolts stretch about 15 thousands of an inch over a year or 30-40000 k's of boosted spirited driving.

He measured the bolts on a thread gauge and noticed that only the center bolts had changed in size.

This is completely consistent with the known failures of the 6G75 by me and others in the US.
He is currently talking to ARP about a kit of parts to fit to a 6G75 engine, whether forged or not, to fit and stop the failures.

It is expected that it will be a sump removal and fit without full engine removal from the car.
It is a significant find in improving reliability of an otherwise bullet proof power plant.

I will post the relevant details when all is known....it will not be expensive considering the consequences if not done.

Do you know what the mod will be? Is it just higher tensile bolts or pre stretched bolts.

Very interested in this, any time frame on when the kit will be ready. Can you use a high tensile bolt instead??

I have a forged engine that failed in this exact manner on the bench, a thread gauge shows the threads stretched in the middle of the bolt pattern.

My engine rebuilder is organizing the parts.

When he gets the correct part numbers I will post them up including where to buy them from..

I have told a few forums in the US as well...a couple of guys have had the same fault.
