If it has three drilled holes just near the oil dipstick...it is LPG compatible...if it only has one hole...it's not. All series 3 models had the compatible heads..except the manual transmission models, NO manual transmission model 380 has LPG/Propane compatible heads. The photo shows the side of the engine that normally is next to the radiator..i.e the front of the car. Note position of dipstick for reference. Tuning is a matter of getting the turbo lpg injectors rather than the stock impco injectors....not much more money...except if you have wrong ones to start. I have the tune maps and ecu programming dongle for it, it's pretty easy. When you go past about 3500 rpm with more than 30% throttle it switches to petrol for power anyway...then back to LPG when you cruise. Thing to remeber is you still need petrol for start up till engine coolant gets to a trip point you set in the ecu. Run out of petrol and car will not start, even with a full tank of LPG. Here's mine before i got the LSD.... http://www.youtube.com/user/Redblower#p/u/12/yj9lpnfTEic

Frequent flyer Silver Posts: 51 ![]() Location: Australia | guys i know manufacturers recommend this and not that etc. here is my take on it: 1, all alloy heads use hardened seats (the valve cant run in the alloy) 2, all modern valves are of higher grade metallurgy than 20 years ago so i say if used correctly and not run too lean then all alloy heads work well with lpg yes you can get better materials but they will work fine

Totally true anyone can run lpg on any 380 by it is not recommened by mitsubishi hence the change in valve and valve seat material there was failures in early production and that is why they designed the compatible engine to help improve engine life. And to maintain 5 to 10 year warrenty by reducing risks of failures
