Recently I got some info from a performance team who specialize in auto trans upgrades.

When you rebuild or beef up our transmissions the shift patterns can be rough particularly in the 2nd to 3rd transition.

This procedure cures all that and smooths the shifts in all gears.

In my case I had a solenoid valve body upgrade and 2/3 was rough.

I have found this procedure to work perfectly, even on my cars that haven't had any work done.

Causes no harm as far as I know.

Initiating auto relearn on Mitsubishi 380 and Magna transmissions.
Particularly in the event of a rebuild where gear upshifts are affected.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Disconnect battery
pump and hold brake pedal 5-6 times and hold for 30 secs
this drains current from ecu battery backup

Reconnect battery
bring engine up to operating temperature
ensure idle is below 1000 rpm

Manually move gear lever neutral to reverse and hold for 3 secs then back to neutral
repeat 5 times

Manually move lever neutral to drive and hold for 3 secs then back to neutral
repeat 5 times

Now without switching ignition off

Proceed to drive at light throttle for about 5 minutes on a flat road
max 15 percent throttle

then

Proceed to drive at medium 25% throttle for about 5 minutes on a flat road

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Procedure complete, transmission will continue to improve with normal driving.

That's good to know.... so basically by doing this procedure you will be resetting the communication between the ECU and the Auto trans..

yep and it seems to recalibrate the line pressure.
