This method of repair requires little to no money to do. It helps if you are handy with tools.
This fix was performed on a DB 380 VRX series 1 2005 model. I don't know if the window winder is the same on all models but it may at least give you some insight of what breaks and how to fix it.
What happened in this case is the plastic that holds the end point of the cable broke. This plastic assembly is not made of very strong plastic. Remove the door trim to gain access to the window regulator assembly. Have a look at the photos to see the plastic section I am referring to.
What I have done is drilled a hole into the plate which also has some metal on it. Then I found a screw with a large head on it and split the thread in to two sides. (use a hack saw to cut it or if you have a dremel with a cutting blade that will make life a lot easier) I made the gap wide enough to allow the cable to fit in. Pulling the cable taught using a modified hacksaw blade then placing the split screw over the cable and then pushed the screw in to the hole. While holding tension on the screw to prevent it from popping out place the nut on the back of the metal plate and tighten.
I hope the photos will help explain what I have just written.
The first photo is showing how I used the hack saw blade to get the cable from the jammed point. In hindsight it would have been easier to have pulled the regulator out of the car first before repairing it!!
