Bought this little gem at auction.

I thought i would get a manual to play around with.

Since I will have a spare supercharger to play with end of September I couldn't resist it for...$3000.

Of course life is never simple....

It needs a little bit of work....but the chassis rails and airbags are fine...phew!

About 2500 dollars worth of panels and paint.

Still...a forged engine and a Sprintex blower, LSD and under $15k for a unique little Gem...

Just got her back from the panel shop.

I paid the 300 dollars extra to have her put on a jig to see if she needed straightening.

Nope...she is whithin 3mm of Mitsubishi specs, and I have the printout for the VIV test.

I need to finish off fitting the bumper, fog lights etc, as I am keeping costs down by doing as much myself as possible.

here she is after coming off the tow truck this afternoon.....

I've had to take lots of before and after pics cause it's VIN had been written off and I need to present it for reassessment at VicRoads.

you gotta love the way a black 380 shines up when clean though...

Found a small crease in one of the rails.

Alltools have a hydraulic, mini porta pak kit for $199.

I couldn't resist giving the dent in the rail a tiny little nudge, even though its only cosmetic.

can you see where the dent was?

Pfft, you call that a dint?

Thats perfect, no way they would fail it going by the pics, looks as good as new, including your dint in the chassis.

It went for a roadworthy check yesterday.

The cleanest report I have ever had on any car...all ticks down the side, nocomments, nothing...just a pass.

It's booked in for the VIV inspection next tuesday.

fingers crossed...

I need this car sorted to move to the next step....

they want a friggin' SRS integrity report before i bring it in...has to be from a Mitsubishi dealer...I've got my own Mut3 kit but they wont accept a report from me.

pisses me off paying a hundred bucks for 10 minutes laptop work....

Just got the car home.

It passed the VIV inspection with flying colours.

Will register it to morrow...would you believe I had to book a Vic roads "high risk" registration appointment so that...after the RWC...and the VIV...they need to check the VIN and the colour etc etc

What a bureacratic pile of bullshit....oh, $40 for the 5 minute appointment, then I get the plates.

Welcome to life, it aint cheap.

Ive also got a VIC Roads appointment for next Wednesday, putting Godzilla back on the road after the respray for the Skyline nationals in Bennella, need to lift the suspension height on the coilovers to pass Min height (100mm), problem is the new wheels will stick out of the guards once i raise it, might get under and put all the negative camber i can get just to tuck the wheels under the guards as a temporary fix.

Bet you they just look at the engine number and no further, useless bunch....

yep looked at the VIN, the engine number then tried to upsell me to slim number plates for 60 bucks more.

Hey Godzilla...i declared the stampduty value as 1000 bucks...that paid for the VIV inspection...car is woth about 12-15k on carsales....a saving of...$500...LOL

That's payback to VRoads...I successfully argued that a write off was worthless in resale terms and unsafe for families compared to an unwritten off car.

They gave me no arguments.

Yeah i might try the same, i saw a new Mustang going through a few months ago, owner was declaring its value as $20K, the lady working there was going off her tree, complaining to her coworkers, why she cant find a car like that for 20K.

They can try to up sell what they want, i already have the plates "ZILLR" ready to bolt on.

Taken.....Im sure ive seen it, besides in sure the plates Killr would be deemed offensive. :p

My son went to see the car today, should be ready for pickup Saturday, straight as a dye, the custom metallic Black i had made up is deeper than the factory Black, just need the N1 side skirts, rear wing, N1 front and rear lips and bumpers polished and put back on now.

The guy who did the body work and paint is well known in show car circles, Craig from 2DIE4 bodyworks, no orange peel, just a deep wet gloss, i highly recommend him for custom work.

Shhhh, they are already painted red, couldnt help myself.

Maybe those fake eBay Brembo caliper covers will improve my braking. LOL

Got the car home tonight from the panel shop, missing a cylinder, possibly a faulty coil pack or stuck injector, fun day ahead tomorrow.....not.
